Ayn Rand's work is monumentally silly and can now be termed as Republican propaganda, but nonetheless, she was the definition of "fierce" and kept a 19 year old lover while living in a Neutra-designed house in Palm Springs with her actor husband. Once, she locked herself in said house for 33 days and running on nothing but willpower and amphetamines, wrote, wrote, wrote. Sounds familiar!
